eHoarluk 50pt level by Beckman

eHoarluk, 50 PT level.

I'm a beast player at heart, but I like to have the best matchups that I can across the board. This is a problem, since infantry likes to eat beasts. So what's the answer? Ranged attacks. The bomber eats the infantry that eats the beasts and doesn't do badly against beasts. Let's take two. Good. Let's throw in an Impaler for the extra range. What if they have Solid Ground? Well, we'll throw in a Pyre for the Continous Effect: Fire and Strength Animus against high ARM. Add an Axer for the movement and pathfinder. I'm throwing in a Bouncer because I like Shield Guarding against CRAs and the Reaper's Drag. Add the KSB in for extra durability, some whelps, and the Runebearer (for the fury reduction on your animi) and you're good to go.

Alright, but which caster?

Grim is a good one. He has a SPD buff for your beasts on his gun, He can knockdown the enemy, can debuff DEF, make your beasts get Hunter, and has tremendous board denial - BUT the beasts run REALLY fury hot, and as a 6 FURY caster, it's hard to handle.

Calandra is also a good one, but she has no speed buffs for your troops or debuffs to speed for the enemy. She can make your beasts SING with rerolls, Star Crossed, and Soothing Song. Without her feat, your troops aren't really that great in melee. She doesn't have DEF debuffs like Grim and Stealth Lists are a serious problem.

Initially, I just considered the above two... as they were the ones that came to mind. I had developed a preconception that a certain angry old troll only wanted to work with a diversity of Dire Trolls and Mulg. Oh how wrong I was.

Finally, the list:

50 PTs
Hoarluk Doomshaper, Rage of Dhunia (*6pts)
* Pyre Troll (5pts)
* Troll Axer 6pts)
* Troll Bouncer (5pts)
* Troll Impaler (5pts)
* Dire Troll Bomber (10pts)
* Dire Troll Bomber (10pts)
Krielstone Bearer and 5 Stone Scribes (4pts)
* Krielstone Stone Scribe Elder (1pts)
Swamp Gobber Bellows Crew (Leader and 1 Grunt) (1pts)
Thumpercrew (Leader and 2 Crew) (3pts)
Professor Victor Pendrake (2pts)
Trollkin Runebearer (2pts)
Troll Whelps (2pts)

Strengths:
- Has SPD buff in his feat.
- Allows Refuge cycling on the 2 Bombers, which means that so long as they directly hit a target, they can advance after shooting. Meaning you can move up 5", shoot something, then move back 5". This creates a 17" threat range which leaves 17" between you and the enemy.
-Has Wild Agression - You can activate eHoarluk, Feat and Wild Aggression on a DTB once you want to engage and cycle the Wild Aggression onto another DTB using the Runebearer's mini-feat.
- Has 7 FURY. Lets you Upkeep Refuge (1), cast Refuge (2-1) later in the turn (for 1 less with Runebearer), and cast Far Strike twice (4), leaving a transfer.
-Goad - Not a game breaker in this list, but very useful.
-Dealing with single wound infantry. AOEs Hurt. Secondary Pyre Troll AOE for the Continuous Effect: Fire.
-13.5" charge range on Bombers on Feat Turn, if necessary. Wild Agression mitigates high DEF.

Weaknesses:
-Heavy-hitting lists with large charge ranges in objective scenarios where you have to hold stuff.
-Knocking down high DEF tagets. Pendrake and the Thumper can't knock them down reliably. Not really a weakness, just a limitation.
-Your method of dealing with stealth lists is melee with large charge ranges. An all-stealth melee list might crush you if you don't get a good first strike.
-Lists that tie you up first. You have no ranged attacks in melee. Watch out for it. Then again, you have 17" functional range...
-Hoarluk is SQUISHY. He needs to be kept safe. Don't let your enemy breathe on him.
